    Applications are invited for appointments as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor (2 posts) in the Department of Computer Science and the Faculty of Business and Economics, to commence on July 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

    This is a joint appointment between the Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business and Economics, with the former as the home department.

    The Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business and Economics provide a supportive and friendly environment and are embarking on a programme of recruitment to invest in areas of acknowledged strength and to invest in areas of internationally competitive activity.     The Department of Computer Science enjoys the reputation of providing high-quality education and conducting top-notch research. It offers programmes at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and has excellent computing resources and supporting facilities for teaching and research. Information about the Department can be obtained at The finance group of the Faculty of Business and Economics consists of more than 20 research-active faculty members and runs a high-quality weekly seminar series. The Faculty colleagues have published 27 papers in JF, JFE, and RFS since 2013 (top 25 in the world and No. 1 in Asia in UT Dallas Business School Ranking based on these three journals).

    Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computational Finance or a related field, with research areas related to Financial Technology, which includes but not limited to the following areas: computational finance, e-payment, financial data analytics, block chain, crypto currency, quantitative finance and investment and big data analysis in finance. Applicants should have a strong commitment to research and teaching. A solid track record in research is essential.

    A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave and medical benefits. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
