The University of Kentucky seeks to hire one or more tenure-track faculty in finance. We will consider candidates at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels. Applications are invited from candidates with outstanding quantitative and communications skills and a demonstrated capacity for high-level research. Applicants should have an expectation of publishing in the JF, JFE, and/or RFS or comparable outlets. Support for one position will come from the newly established John H. Schnatter Institute for the Study of Free Enterprise, and the appointee will play a role in the growth and development of the Institute. An endowed chair is a possibility for an exceptionally qualified candidate. Application review will begin in November 2016, and we will interview at the AFA meeting in Chicago in January 2017. The start date for the position is August 2017.

UK faculty have published extensively in top finance journals. Awards for recent publications include the Blackrock/Brennan Prize at RFS and the Fama/DFA and Jensen Prizes at JFE. The finance area at UK has a highly productive core of research-oriented faculty, a vibrant PhD program, and excellent support for junior faculty. Salary and teaching load are competitive with leading public universities.

UK is located in Lexington, which is in the heart of the beautiful Bluegrass Region. Lexington frequently ranks near the top of many ‘Best Cities’ lists, including Forbes, Kiplinger, and The Atlantic.

Applications must include the following: a letter of application (upload under cover letter), evidence of ongoing research (upload under Specific Request 1), and a curriculum vitae. Please provide the names and contact information for at least three references when prompted in the application.
