Position Overview

The University of Kansas, School of Business is searching for an endowed chair in finance. The search is open at the Associate or Full Professor level. Appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant’s scholarly and teaching record. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning August 18, 2018.

Job Description

40% Teach a combination of required and elective finance courses at the Undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. level.
40% Conduct and publish research in a quantity and quality commensurate with the University of Kansas’s status as a Carnegie I research university.
20% Perform service for the School, University, and academic profession and interact effectively with students, faculty, and the business community

Required Qualifications

A PhD in finance or closely related field..
A proven record or demonstrated high potential in research and publications.
An established of growing international reputation in finance.
A clear ability to teach effectively at undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. levels.
Evaluation of these requirements will be made through (1) letter of application describing experience and accomplishments; (2) record of productivity in teaching, research and service as noted in CV; (3) research statement and supplemental materials (e.g., publications); (4) teaching statement and supplemental materials (teaching portfolio, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations); (5) information provided by three professional references.

For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor:
1. A Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field.
2. Record of teaching excellence in Finance.
3. Demonstrated excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Associate Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.

For appointment at the rank of Full Professor:
1. A Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field.
2. Record of teaching excellence in Finance.
3. Sustained record of excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Full Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.
