Carnegie Mellon is a private, global research university, internationally known in artificial intelligence, the performing arts, business administration, economics and computer science. The Masters of Science in Computational Finance (MSCF) program, ranked one of the top-ranked quantitative finance programs in the country, is the joint venture between four Carnegie Mellon colleges, the Tepper School of Business, the Math Department in Mellon College of Science, the Statistics and Data Science Department in Dietrich School of Social Sciences and the Heinz College for programming.

The MSCF Career Services department is searching for a Director to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and meaningful work environment. In this role, you will lead the MCSF Career Services at both the Pittsburgh and New York locations, providing comprehensive career services to program students and alumni.

Core responsibilities will include:
Provide strategic direction on and implementation of department policies and procedures, employer relations, on-campus recruiting, and career development programming.
Manage a 2.5 person team across two locations (Pittsburgh and New York).
Assist approximately 90 Pittsburgh-based students to assess career goals, formulate job search strategies, develop resumes, practice interviewing skills and negotiate job offers.
Maintain existing and develop new employer relationships for the development of full-time and internship job opportunities through direct correspondence, employer site visits, membership in professional organizations and attendance at conferences.
Oversee the collection and reporting of employment statistics in accordance with MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance standards.
Advise the Quantitative Finance Club student organization in career programming and events.
Partner with CMU’s Career & Professional Development Center and Office of International Education to promote campus-wide employer communication collaboration.

You should demonstrate:
An understanding of career counseling techniques and the needs of non-traditional and graduate students, and/or a deep understanding of at least one business function typically pursued by MSCF students.
Capability to build, implement and evaluate programs and initiatives, including training and oversight of the professional staff who will administer these programs.
Knowledge of the college recruiting process and the ability to interact with corporate representatives to facilitate their successful recruitment of students.
Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong project management, supervisory, and staff development skills.
Excellent organizational and planning skills, including the ability to independently prioritize work, handle multiple tasks at a time, set goals and enforce deadlines, while maintaining the flexibility to reassess and prioritize goals.

Based in Pittsburgh, PA, you should be able to travel both domestically and internationally and be willing to work outside of normal business hours as needed.

Master’s degree in counseling, financial engineering, higher education, human resources, business administration, or related field highly desired.
Minimum five years of career services experience, recruiting, or relevant business roles.
Experience working with diverse populations, international students, or financial services.
