Program overview

The Fletcher School’s Master of Global Business Administration is an online program that combines core business courses with international relations, economics, and law courses. Students in the program are mid-career, averaging 38 years old, and they come from a wide array of sectors including business, NGOs, military, and public service.

The courses in the GBA program run for a traditional 13-week semester. Each week students watch about 90 minutes of recorded content in addition to a 90-minute live class session held over Zoom. The live sessions are interactive and engaging, making connections between the recorded sessions and readings though active discussion, breakout rooms, and review of videos when needed. The recorded course content, course structure, and syllabi have already been created; this position is designed to teach and facilitate the live class sessions only.

Specific Course Details: International Supply Chains: Connecting Developed and Developing Worlds

We seek a lecturer for the International Supply Chains course for the summer term (May - August 2024). This course explores the management of the flow of business between different countries, especially those supply chains that inter-connect economies. An important aim of the course is to analyze the dynamic aspects of supply chains, such as: performance demands on companies, geopolitical risks, and novel digital technology options to deliver to customers and how to control the chain.

Students leave this course with knowledge on how to create, negotiate, and manage supply chains. The course operates at two levels. One is the global context - what forces shape new supply networks, what determines which succeeds, and what are the particular challenges of operating in the developing world. The second is the operating level - how companies decide where to source, what partners they need, and how to build and control these supply networks. Emphasis is placed on economics and the physics of supply chains, as well as a range of industires, from commodities to high tech, goods, and services.

Responsibilities for the position include:

  • Prepare for the course by watching all recorded videos, reviewing the syllabus and readings, and coordinating with the faculty member who designed the class
  • Participate in trainings about the online platform and technology used for the program
  • Conduct a weekly 90-minute live class session for thirteen weeks, to be offered either during a weekday evening or Saturday morning (eastern time)
  • Identify guest and external speakers as necessary
  • Conduct a mid-semester course evaluation to get feedback from students
  • Prepare, grade, and offer feedback on problem sets, exams, papers and other deliverables as outlined in the syllabus
  • Assign final grades for each student.
  • Conduct weekly office hours and engage with students regularly to ensure a high-touch learning experience
  • Provide feedback to program administration about possible enhancements to the course
