Brief Summary of Work for this Position: The Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics, and Information Systems within the Cameron School of Business seeks an outstanding faculty member for a Distinguished Professorship in Supply Chain Management. The position is a nine-month tenured position at the rank of full professor or associate professor, scheduled to begin Fall Semester 2025

For a Professor, the recipient of the Distinguished Professorship shall be called "Distinguished Professor;" for an Associate professor; the recipient shall be called "Distinguished Scholar." This position is for an initial five-year term, and, upon review, there will be the option to renew the appointment every 5 years. This Distinguished Professorship in Supply Chain Management is a prestigious designation for a faculty member who has earned prominence for scholarly and professional achievements in supply chain management research and service ("Distinguished Professor") or who shows great promise to achieving professional prominence ("Distinguished Scholar"). The Distinguished Professor/Scholar will be responsible for teaching in the supply chain management discipline, scholarly research, and practice that advances the understanding of supply chain management. The successful candidate is expected to provide the following:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in operations management or supply chain management from an AACSB-accredited or equivalent business school.
  • An active and internationally recognized research record, an ability, and a willingness to interact with the supply chain management academic profession and engage in educational and professional outreach.
  • Evidence of a distinguished record in teaching both face-to-face and online courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition, the candidate must be able to teach in at least two of the following areas: Purchasing and materials management, logistics and distribution management, transportation management, project management, supply chain strategy, and quality management.
  • Leadership activity in preparing undergraduate and graduate Supply Chain Management students for professional careers, in enhancing the quality and standing of the supply chain management and related programs at UNCW.
  • Experience and success in securing grant funding.
  • Experience and ability to engage with the business community on matters related to supply chain management and play an active role in the advisory board.
  • A proposed agenda for research, grant writing, teaching, engagement, and service to the discipline that will bring distinction to UNCW, the Cameron School of Business, and the Congdon School.



Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • The candidate is expected to focus on research in the supply chain management area and teach both face to face and online courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Mentoring junior faculty colleagues to enhance the Congdon School research productivity, and in collaborating with colleagues in the Congdon School and Cameron School of Business
