The Sports Studies Program at Bishop’s University (Sherbrooke, Québec) invites applications for two tenure-stream positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting July 1, 2019.

The Sports Studies Program seeks two energetic and forward-thinking individuals to contribute to the development of our Sports Business and Athletic Development concentrations. The successful candidates must have a demonstrated expertise in one of the two following themes and must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. Selected candidates will also display a significant research profile including peer reviewed publication(s), evidence of on-going research activities, and the capacity to attract external funding. Post-doctoral training and bilingualism (English/French) will be considered as assets.

Sport management and/or recreation planning: The candidate will be expected to provide leadership to our Sports Business concentration and to contribute to the creation of new courses in his/her area of expertise. Applicants will have a demonstrated expertise to deliver undergraduate courses in sporting event organization and/or sports centre management and/or recreation planning and/or social media in sports.

Sport leadership and/or exercise psychology: The candidate will be expected to play a key role in the future of our program by teaching courses relevant to students in both the Sports Business and Athletic Development concentrations. Applicants will have expertise in area(s) such as long-term athlete development and/or sport leadership and/or talent identification and/or development of Paralympics athletes or any other areas deemed relevant.
