Job Description
The Department of Human Movement Sciences at Old Dominion University is pleased to announce a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Management position beginning Fall 2024. Duties include teaching courses in the Sport Management curriculum, developing and maintaining a nationally visible research program, and service to the university, profession, and community. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and willingness to work in a multicultural setting.
Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
- A strong commitment to scholarship and research demonstrated by a record of empirical research publications and/or potential to develop and maintain a nationally visible research agenda including grant submissions.
- Ability to teach a variety of sport management courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate (MS and PhD) student research, serve on committees, and participate in program governance, decision-making, and professional leadership.
Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
A doctoral degree in Sport Management or a closely related field. ABD doctoral students with a completion date prior to July 15, 2024 will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
- Record of publishing scholarly articles in recognized journals.
- A well-defined area of research expertise in Sport Management.
- Ability to teach Sport Finance and other Sport Management courses.
- Experience developing and teaching online courses.
- Experience as a practitioner in the sport industry.
