The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, WFI Ingolstadt School of Management, invites applications for a
Junior Professorship in Operations Management with Tenure Track
(German pay grade W1 with tenure track)
The position is to be filled by October 1st, 2018. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and teaching in the area of operations management in close collaboration with the Chair of Business Information Systems and the Chair of Supply Chain Management & Operations. The emphasis should be on business analytics methods for system and process design in the secondary or tertiary sectors.
The applicant should be recognized in the field of supply chain management, logistics, production or service operations, and should be familiar with the modern methodology of operations research and business analytics.
A strong focus in trade logistics or the automotive industry is expected. Current topics such as industry 4.0, digitisation or the Internet of Things should be taught in interactive lectures and further developed in academic research.
The successful candidate should actively contribute to the new professional network "Digital Business Incubator" (Digitales Gründerzentrum Ingolstadt).
Requirements for the position are an excellent doctoral degree, further outstanding academic achievements and teaching skills. Publications in refereed international journals and previous successful acquisition of research funding are an advantage.
Teaching duties encompass courses at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level, as well as in doctoral and executive education in one or more of the abovementioned fields. The teaching languages are English (strongly preferred) and German. In order to strengthen the scientific profile of our School we expect the successful candidate to publish research findings in international journals.
The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt offers a tenure track option. After successful final evaluation as junior professor by the faculty of the WFI Ingolstadt School of Management (generally after 6 years) which covers the subject-specific, pedagogical and individual qualification of the candidate, and pending final approval, the university will offer a permanent position as a W2 or W3 professor (tenure track).
The junior professorship will be remunerated according to the pay grade W1. The W1 junior professorship is the entry-level professorship in Germany and is comparable to an assistant professorship in other countries.
The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt pursues a policy of intensive student mentoring and thus expects the successful candidate to be present on campus frequently. Hence successful candidate is expected to move to the Ingolstadt region.
