For the academic year 2025/26
Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), the national university of the Sultanate of Oman, provides, through its nine colleges and other units, a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, research and outreach services. The University is located in the capital area and close to excellent international schools and unique natural recreational areas. SQU is one of the top global 400 universities (QS World University Rankings 2025), one of the best in the Gulf and the top university in Oman. General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow the latest developments in the field of the job to enhance and improve workflow within the unit.
- Apply the university's security and safety requirements to ensure a safe and suitable work environment.
- Teach academic courses in the field of specialization according to quality standards.
- Supervise graduation research and postgraduate theses (Master's and Ph.D.).
- Provide academic guidance to students and assist them in academic and professional planning.
- Attend department and college council meetings and actively contribute to them.
- Participate in internal and external committees upon request.
- Conduct and publish scientific research in the field of specialization.
- Provide scientific consulting and participate in relevant conferences and seminars.
- Engage in community service through workshops, seminars, and preparing studies related to community issues.
- Strengthen the relationship between the university and the community through academic and research activities.
- Contribute to the development of academic policies and implement academic and research quality assurance standards.
- Any other tasks related to the position and aligned with the nature of the unit's work.
General conditions and Requirements for teaching faculty positions:
- The applicant must be of good conduct and behavior.
- To have the following qualifications for appointment:
- It must be issued on a regular basis, and not be in the system of affiliation, distance education, or blended education.
- It must be equivalent by the competent authority in the Sultanate if it is issued by a non-Omani higher education institution (Only for Omani).
- Proficiency in using information technology effectively.
- Priority is given to those who have experience in university teaching and scientific research.

Specific Requirements

Specific Requirements
- Should have a PhD in Information Systems (IS) or Computer Science or related areas from an internationally recognized university
- MSc in Information Systems (IS) or Computer Science or related areas from an internationally recognized university (strictly NO MBA)
- Should be specialized in one or more of the following areas: Data Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Business Analytics and Information Technology.
- Should have experience in teaching IS courses at undergraduate and postgraduate (M.Sc. and MBA) levels and supervising M.Sc. /Ph.D. research in IS.
- Able to develop new courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc and MBA) levels.
- Experience in academic advising and curriculum development.
- Should be active researchers in their areas of specialization and intellectually engaged in their discipline.
- Should also have the necessary practical computing skills in their areas of expertise.

Position Specifications: Department of Economics and Finance
- Two Assistant Professors in (Experimental and Behavioral Economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Development Economics, Digital Economy, Market Structure, Market Composition, Cost-Benefit Analysis, Procurement Management)
- One Assistant Professor in Economics (Islamic Banking, Islamic Economics, Shariah-Compliant Investments, and Takaful (Islamic Insurance))
Specific Requirements
- Teach courses in the area of specialization.
- Conduct scholarly research.
- Publish Papers in Top-tiers journals.
- Contribute to various committees at the Department, College, and University levels.
- Contribute to the research profile of the College through research and creative endeavors.
- Serve as student advisor.
- Help with curriculum/program development.
- Participate in department/college/university committees.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department.
- Respective applicants should have a Ph.D. in Economics from a respected/accredited international university.

- The candidate will be able to teach undergraduate and postgraduate programs and supervise Masters and doctoral theses, among other courses: Security Studies, International Law and Organizations, International Law and Human Security, Geostrategic Studies, Military Studies and Terrorism, International Penal Law, Security Issues: Theory and Practice, Negotiation & Conflict Resolution, Defence and Strategic Studies, National and Regional Security Issues, Terrorism and Counter-terrorism, Intelligence: Theory and practice, Military Operations and Technology, International Cooperation in Criminal Justice, Media and Security and other related courses to security and strategic studies/political science/international relations.
- The candidate should be an active researcher in their area of specialization in security studies/international relations and intellectually engaged in their discipline.

- The candidate must have at least 15 years of teaching experience and hold the professorship position for at least 10 years. 10 years of teaching experience and hold the Associate Professorship position for at least 5 years.
- The candidate will be able to teach undergraduate and postgraduate programs and supervise Masters and doctoral theses, among other disciplines of security studies and strategic studies, international relations and political science.
- The candidate should be an active researcher in their area of specialization and intellectually engaged in their discipline.
- The candidate for Associate (Omani) and Full Professor (Omani and non-Omani) levels should have an outstanding scholarship record.
- The candidate will serve in university, professional and local communities. The candidate will also be assisting the department, college and university based on necessity.
- Please attach three letters of recommendation and copies of all appointments as Associate Professor and Professor.
Position Specifications: Business Communication Unit
- Assistant Professor in communication, computer-mediated communication, corporate communication, organizational communication
Specific Requirements
- Teach at the undergraduate level
- Have an active role in departmental research activities.
- Produce scholarly work and assist department research output.
- Have an active role in departmental administrative activities.
- Engage in services for the university, professional and local communities.
- At least a minimum of 3 years of teaching or work experience.
- Shows evidence of a strong research capacity.
- Able to merge fundamental theoretical knowledge with practical relevance and to build and maintain sustainable relationships with practitioners.
- Specialization in and experience with computer-mediated and technology-assisted communication is considered as an advantage.
- Experience with innovative teaching/learning approaches is a plus
