Professor of Data and Business Analytics
The Finance Department of the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University is seeking applicants in the field of Business Analytics with strong interests in statistical methodology and its applications related to Big Data at the full professor rank. This recruitment is part of an ambitious Invest Syracuse Cluster Hire Initiative at Syracuse University in the broad area of Big Data and Data Analytics. Under this initiative, Syracuse University will recruit for multiple faculty positions in various schools on campus for a research cluster with the focus on this area. Faculty hired into these positions will build on existing strengths on campus in related areas, such as Machine Learning, Data Mining, and High Frequency Data Trading, and will participate in organized research efforts that span multiple departments, including the Whitman School of Management, the College of Engineering and Computer Science., and the College of Arts and Sciences. A main goal of the cluster hire is to increase research visibility of the University through interdisciplinary research and extramural grants. Qualified candidates must have earned Ph.D. in data sciences such as Statistics, Econometrics, or a closely related discipline. Candidates should have a distinguished record of publications in high quality outlets in Statistics, Econometrics, and functional areas of business. A record of funded grants is desirable. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Candidates will be evaluated according to the quality of their research record, grants, evidence of commitment to teaching, and recommendations. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the Big Data and Data Analytics cluster efforts, such as obtaining joint extramural funding, taking part in the cluster activities (such as planning processes, joint mentoring, and programmatic meetings), and participating in relevant centers or institutes.
