  • Full Time Faculty Position
    Marshall School of Business - Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies

    The Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, seeks applicants for a clinical faculty position in entrepreneurship. The position can be at the assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor ranks. We strongly encourage applications from candidates with a dedication to teaching and a track record of research and/or scholarly contributions to entrepreneurship. The typical teaching load is four courses per year. The job represents a full-time, multi-year academic appointment, but is non-tenure-track. The job will start in August 2018.

    This year, in addition to seeking excellent scholars across a wide variety of entrepreneurship topics, we are also looking for people who focus, in particular, on ethics in entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial history, and economics/policy - to work closely with Professor Noam Wasserman, founding director of the Founder Central initiative, in developing the initiative’s research program and course offerings.

    The Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies is among the nation's leaders in entrepreneurship education and research. Its faculty is a diverse mix of researchers and practitioners. The Center’s research-oriented faculty include Helena Yli-Renko, Violina Rindova, Noam Wasserman, Jill Kickul, Elissa Grossman, Pai-Ling Yin, Justin Miller, and Greg Autry. Faculty articles have been published in Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Management Science, American Economic Review, Journal of Business Venturing, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, among others. The Greif Center is one of the organizers of the West Coast Entrepreneurship Research Symposium and the sponsor of the Greif Entrepreneurship Research Impact Award - given annually at the Academy of Management conference. This year, our undergraduate entrepreneurship program was ranked #6 and our graduate program #10 by US News and World Report. In addition to offering courses in the school's undergraduate and MBA programs, we offer specialized graduate degrees in social entrepreneurship (MSSE) and entrepreneurship and innovation (MSEI).

    Preferred qualifications include:
    • Doctoral (or other terminal) degree, preferably with an entrepreneurship or business-related emphasis.
    • Superior communication and teaching skills, with demonstrated excellence in teaching entrepreneurship courses to undergraduate and/or MBA students.
    • Track record of scholarly contributions to the field of entrepreneurship (e.g., journal articles for academic or practitioner audiences, books, teaching cases or other pedagogical materials).
    • Practical work experience relevant for entrepreneurship (e.g., as founder, manager, or investor in start-ups or as a corporate or social entrepreneur).

    Salary and rank are dependent on qualifications, and initial contract length ranges from two to four years based on rank, with the strong expectation that the contract will be renewed if performance expectations are met or exceeded. Employee benefits for full-time faculty are excellent.
