  • Lecturer of Park, Recreation, & Tourism Studies (Non-Tenure Track)

    The Park, Recreation & Tourism Studies (PRTS) Program in the Department of Human Movement Sciences (HMS) at Old Dominion University is pleased to announce a full-time Lecturer position beginning in the fall semester of 2024.

    Duties include teaching courses in the undergraduate PRTS Program (4/4 teach load). Examples of courses that the candidate are expected to teach include, but are not limited to, the following: Program Planning and Development in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, Recreation Resource Management, Sustainable Management in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, Outdoor Recreation, and Evaluation in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. Duties may also include serving on department/college, university, and professional committees.

     

    Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
     

    Candidates must have demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching at the collegiate/university level and prior experience serving on department, college, university, and/or professional committees.


     

    Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
     

    Candidates are required to have a Master’s degree or higher in Park, Recreation, & Tourism Management or a closely related field.


     

    Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • An earned Doctoral Degree in Park, Recreation & Tourism Management or a closely related field.

    • Professional experience in the Park, Recreation, or Tourism Management industry.

    • Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching at the collegiate/university level.

    • Ability to work in a diverse and multicultural community.
