The University of Michigan’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), as part of its initiative on sustainable, high-performance and inter-connected civil infrastructure systems, is searching for a Faculty Candidate in the general area of Construction Engineering and Management (CE&M), with an emphasis on bridging with other disciplines.
The tenure-track position is expected to be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. However, exceptional candidates will be considered at the rank of full Professor.
Applicants should have doctorates in Civil Engineering or related fields of study and those applying at the Associate Professor or Professor level must have well-established academic records, including scholarly publications and externally funded research programs.
The intellectual depth, innovation and promise of the candidate are of higher priority than his/her specific research area in the CE&M domain. However, a non-exclusive list of areas of interest includes: Life Cycle Engineering and Management of Constructed Facilities; Innovative Project Delivery Systems; International Construction; Lean Construction; Industrial Construction; Retrofit and Rehabilitation of Built Infrastructure; Project Controls; Human Resource Management; Entrepreneurship and Organizational Issues; Strategic Planning and Management; Productivity; Safety; Sustainability; Information Technology; Engineering Informatics; Infrastructure Condition Assessment and Monitoring; and, Automation and Robotics.
The selected candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate classes in CE&M, as well as introduce graduate courses in the candidate's area of expertise. The successful candidate should also establish an active research program in the CEE Department and conduct multi-disciplinary research and teaching activities with colleagues in other Departments and Colleges.
