JOB DESCRIPTION (Accounting)

a.POSITION TITLE:
i.Accounting Faculty

b.POSITION PURPOSE:
i.The quality of faculty is critical component of the quality and success of the department of finance and accounting

ii.Accounting Faculty will be academically prepared and will be proven effective teachers based on a review of their teaching portfolio by a faculty search committee of the department and the college of finance and accounting

iii.Accounting Faculty are expected to demonstrate a history and currency in providing quality education that aligns well with PMU educational philosophy and methods that provide a student centered and positive environment

c.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
i.Accounting Faculty will have the primary teaching responsibilities for finance & accounting department’s academic courses. These will include:

1.Teach designated accounting courses
2.Continuously maintaining and improving the quality of the courses being taught
3.Reviewing the courses taught through accurate records for accreditation purposes
4.Selecting core textbooks
5.Preparing course syllabi and teaching materials
6.Planning in class team activities and assignments
7.Constructing and grading student assessments, and preparing examinations
8.Keeping students records
9.Supervising capstone projects and internships
10.Holding regular office hours
11.Advising students on matters regarding academic, curricular and careers
12.Participating in different departmental and college committee’s
13.Participating in scientific research, consultation projects, professional training courses…etc

d.QUALIFICATIONS/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
i.The candidate should have a PhD. in accounting or related field from a reputable Western university.

ii.The candidate should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experience in a reputable university.

iii.The candidate should have good research experience, with reasonable publications in international refereed journals.

iv.Industrial experience is considered as an added bonus.

v.The candidate should have excellent communications skills in English.

vi.The candidate should be familiar with technologically infused academic environment.

vii.Candidate’s previous experience in the Middle East in general and GCC countries in particular is also an added bonus.
