    Position Overview

    The School of Business at the University of Kansas is searching for an open rank Professor in Finance for the 2018-19 academic year. The search is open at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. Appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant’s scholarly and teaching record. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning August 18, 2018.

    Job Description

    40% Teach a combination of required and elective finance courses at the Undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. level.
    40% Conduct and publish research in a quantity and quality commensurate with the University of Kansas's status as a Carnegie I research university.
    20% Perform service for the School, University, and academic profession and interact effectively with students, faculty, and the business community


    Required Qualifications

    A PhD in finance or anticipated completion of doctorate by August 2018.
    A proven record or demonstrated high potential in research and publications.
    A clear ability to teach effectively at undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. levels.

    Evaluation of these requirements will be made through (1) letter of application describing experience and accomplishments; (2) record of productivity in teaching, research and service as noted in CV; (3) research statement and supplemental materials (e.g., publications); (4) teaching statement and supplemental materials (teaching portfolio, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations); (5) information provided by three professional references.

    For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor:
    1. A Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree in Finance (must be earned by August 18, 2018.)
    2. Demonstrated teaching excellence (or strong potential for teaching excellence) in Finance.
    3. Demonstrated excellent scholarship (or potential for excellent scholarship) as shown through publications and working papers.

    For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor:
    1. A Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field.
    2. Record of teaching excellence in Finance.
    3. Demonstrated excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Associate Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.

    For appointment at the rank of Full Professor:
    1. A Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field.
    2. Record of teaching excellence in Finance.
    3. Sustained record of excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Full Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.
