Linfield University, a comprehensive university that combines a strong emphasis on the liberal arts with a commitment to professional and interdisciplinary programs, invites highly qualified applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Business (Sport Management) beginning Fall 2022. The position will support the Sport Management major launched Fall 2018, and an existing Sport Management minor. Housed in the Department of Business, the Sport Management major and minor are interdisciplinary, with collaborating faculty and courses in multiple departments of the university. Applicants should desire to be part of a committed team of faculty which works together to deliver a high quality Sport Management education and experience to our students. Candidates need to demonstrate the ability to teach foundations of sport management and sport marketing, but be interested in teaching a variety of Sport Management courses across the curriculum including masters'-level courses. In addition to sport management, students in the Business Department complete majors in accounting, finance, international business, management, and marketing, and minors in management and entrepreneurship. The Department of Business is guided by strategic plans at the university and department levels, and supported by a Business Advisory Council of alumni and business partners.
Required qualifications include: 1) Doctorate in sport management or a closely related field, 2) evidence of excellence in teaching, 3) demonstrated potential for success in scholarly professional achievement and department/college/university service, 4) ability to work effectively with colleagues and students in a small university setting and, 5) demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Highly qualified candidates will also be able to demonstrate: 1) undergraduate teaching experience (highly desirable), 2) experience mentoring undergraduate students including first-generation students (desirable), 3) evidence of relevant sport industry experience (desirable), and 4) esports experience (desirable).
