Position Summary

The School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Finance at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with an expected start date of September 2024. A Ph.D. in Finance, Economics, or a related field is required.  It is particularly advantageous to possess specialized expertise in environmental and climate finance gained through coursework and/or research. A noteworthy research background in finance, particularly in the realms of environmental and climate finance, is essential. Demonstrated publication or potential for publishing research articles in leading finance or environmental finance journals is also highly regarded. Additionally, candidates with teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, preferably in finance or related fields, would be considered an asset. Appointments can be made at the assistant or associate rank, commensurate with the individual's record and experience.

The successful candidate should possess an in-depth understanding of fundamental finance principles, investment strategies, risk management techniques, and financial modeling. They should also demonstrate specialized knowledge in environmental finance, encompassing areas such as sustainable asset pricing, investment practices, green bonds, carbon market dynamics, and the assessment of climate-related risks. Given the interdisciplinary nature of environmental and climate finance, the candidate should excel in collaborating across various fields, engaging with experts in environmental science, policy, and sustainability. Effective communication skills are essential for conveying intricate financial concepts to both students and peers. Additionally, the ability to effectively communicate research findings to diverse audiences, spanning academia and non-academic sectors, is highly advantageous.

The finance area at the School of Business is deeply engaged in research across various fields, including corporate finance, contract theory, energy finance, behavioral finance, macro asset pricing, and entrepreneurial finance. Prospective candidates are encouraged to contribute to and amplify the research endeavors of the department through their own scholarly pursuits. The university provides a favorable teaching workload and robust support for faculty research, ensuring a competitive and nurturing environment for academics. Successful candidates are expected to engage in curriculum development, student advisement, and program events while pursuing research.
