Business

Position Overview

The School of Business at the University of Kansas seeks applicants for faculty positions in Finance for the 2020-21 academic year. This search is open at the Associate or Full Professor level. Candidates at the full professor level may be considered for an Endowed Chair, contingent on funding. Appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant’s scholarly and teaching record. Candidates with expertise in two or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: corporate finance, financial institutions, international finance, investments, or risk management. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning August 18, 2020.

Job Description

40% – Teach a combination of required and elective finance courses at the Undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. level.

40% – Conduct and publish research in a quantity and quality commensurate with the University of Kansas’s status as a Carnegie I research university.

20% – Perform service for the School, University, and academic profession and interact effectively with students, faculty, and the business community

Required Qualifications

Evaluation of these requirements will be made through (1) letter of application describing experience and accomplishments; (2) record of productivity in teaching, research and service as noted in CV; (3) research statement and supplemental materials (e.g., publications); (4) teaching statement and supplemental materials (teaching portfolio, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations); (5) information provided by three professional references.

For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor:
A Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field.
Demonstrated record of teaching in Finance or related area.
Demonstrated excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Associate Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.
For appointment at the rank of Full Professor:
A Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field.
Record of teaching excellence in Finance.
Sustained record of excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to Full Professor at a research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.
