New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU), a Hispanic Serving Institution in Northern New Mexico, seeks a student-centered, visionary leader with an innovative spirit for the position of Dean of the School of Business, Media and Technology. The School of Business, Media, and Technology contains two Departments: Business and Media Arts and Technology. The Business Department offers undergraduate majors in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, General Business, Management, Marketing, and Media Marketing. It has an MBA program with concentrations in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance HR Management, International Business, Management as well as a dual degree Master of Social Work/MBA with the School of Social Work. The Media Arts & Technology Department currently offers undergraduate majors in Interactive Multimedia, Software Systems Design, Video & Audio and Visual Communications. Its graduate offerings include an MFA in Cultural Technology and an MS in Software Systems Design.
The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School and leads faculty and staff in hiring, annual evaluations, recommendations for reappointment, promotion and tenure decisions, and post-tenure review. The Dean ensures the integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement of new and current academic programs and services, builds and maintains relationships with the community, promotes student success and satisfaction, engages in fund-/friend-raising, works to increase enrollment and retention of students, and manages fiscal and other resources. The position also leads the development of new academic programs and the enhancement of ones. The Dean also promotes professional development, faculty research, and other scholarly activities. Other responsibilities include leading the development, evaluation, and administration of the School curriculum on all campuses including online. The successful candidate will have the experience and skills to advance the School of Business, Media, and Technology.
The Dean reports directly to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs and is a member of the Provost Council and Deans Council.
