Lecturer position (permanent) in Entrepreneurship

We are now looking for a University Lecturer to teach, inspire and support our students at Aalto University’s School of Business. The position is within the Entrepreneurship Unit at the Department of Management Studies. In this role you will have a chance to make an impact by empowering students to explore their entrepreneurial potential and develop innovative and creative mindsets, fostering a thriving entrepreneurship education and culture at the university. Through engaging learning experiences and collaborations with entrepreneurial ecosystem partners, you will help shape the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders. We would like you to start on 1.10.2023, though a different date may be agreed upon. Join us in shaping the future!

Your role and goals
The ideal candidate would be someone who meets the below criteria, especially through showing experience in entrepreneurship research as well as university-related teaching experience in the broader field of entrepreneurship, including areas such as strategic entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship, sustainable entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship.

The successful applicant can demonstrate the ability to

deliver high-quality teaching in different areas of entrepreneurship, especially sustainable entrepreneurship (at BSc and MSc level)
design and develop educational materials and offerings at a course, module or programme level
coordinate and manage our Master’s program in Sustainable Entrepreneurship (in collaboration with Aalto Ventures Program)
supervise undergraduate and graduate students’ thesis work
fosert connections between our student community and the wider entrepreneurial ecostyem, especially impact-orientated activities
carry out independent as well as collaborative academic research
work effectively in a team and communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
participate in administrative tasks and strategic decision-making at the level of the Entrepreneurship Unit and the Department of Management Studies
promote Aalto University’s educational and academic reputation

Applicants should hold a doctorate or have their doctoral thesis under review, which can be from any of a number of disciplines provided that the candidate’s teaching expertise and focus lies clearly in entrepreneurship. Employment duties need to be performed in Finland.

Permanent and full-time position, which will be filled at either University Lecturer or Senior University Lecturer level. The selected candidate is expected to start the position on October 1, 2023, but a later starting date is negotiable. The position comes with a competitive salary, that is determined based on experience and qualifications of chosen candidate according to the salary system of Aalto University. Our Entrepreneurship Unit at the Department of Management Studies contributes to the Aalto’s mission to foster a thriving entrepreneurship culture. We provide rigorous and high-impact entrepreneurship research and educate future leaders with a strong ethical and entrepreneurial mindset. Our research is published in top entrepreneurship journals, such as the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, as well as in top management journals, such as the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies and Journal of Management Studies. About recruitment process
Only applications submitted through Workday will be considered. We will start evaluation process in August-September after application period has expired.

From the applicants in the first phase, Aalto University will select candidates to continue in the process. Shortlisted applications are submitted for review by one external expert and invited for a teaching demonstration and an interview. Interviews will be held in September or early October.
