A Level B academic is expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organisational unit or interdisciplinary area and play a significant role within their profession or discipline. Academics at this level may be appointed in recognition of distinction in their disciplinary area.
The academic will be responsible for developing, and executing, strategic plans and directions in the development, teaching and administration of undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education programs in the area of Accounting, Auditing and Assurance within the School. It is expected that the candidate has a strong track record in teaching auditing and assurance. The academic will also be responsible for undertaking activities that maintain and develop scholarly research and the professional activities that are related to the discipline.
Reporting Line: The position reports to the Head of Discipline (Accounting Supervisory responsibilities: Not applicable Financial delegation and/or budget responsibilities: Not applicable
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to curriculum development, innovation, enhancement and quality assurance in the undergraduate and postgraduate units, with a particular focus on audit and assurance
- Deliver innovative and excellent teaching, learning and assessment experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Conduct original research, developing an active record of publication and starting to build a profile of grants and supervision
- Participate in collaborations with other universities and with government, industry and/or civil society to drive research impact and educational excellence
- Support the management of education, research and/or administration in the School through, for example, participation in committees
Key selection criteria
Education/Qualifications
- A doctoral qualification (PhD) or ongoing PhD in auditing and assurance. Candidates with professional accounting qualification will be preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to teach accounting, audit and assurance in a university environment
- Demonstrated ability to produce excellent research and supervision of Undergraduate/Honours students
- Demonstrated ability to work with partners in universities, government and/or civil society
- Demonstrated skills and experience in collaboration and teamwork
