The School of Accountancy (SOA) in the Strome College of Business (SCB) at Old Dominion University (ODU) invites applications for a tenure track position at the level of Associate Professor of Accounting starting in the Fall 2024 semester. SOA offers high quality M.S.A. and B.S.B.A programs in Accounting via face-to-face and online teaching environments. Both SOA and SCB are AACSB accredited.

ODU is a designated Tier 1 research institution located in the City of Norfolk in the metropolitan Hampton Roads region of coastal Virginia. Off campus, there is always something to do. All year-round, residents can enjoy life at the ocean front in Virginia Beach, the museums and sporting events in downtown Norfolk, and the historical attractions of Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. In short, Hampton Roads hosts many major attractions for all to enjoy.

We are searching for a scholar who possesses a balanced perspective concerning research, teaching, and engagement with the accounting profession. The position is open to all areas of Accounting, but special consideration will be given to those with a teaching and research focus in Tax.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Doctorate in Accounting from anAACSB accredited university or a Juris Doctorate (emphasis in Taxation)
  2. Current and strong scholarly publication record that demonstrates a sustained currency and relevance in thought leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification (i.e., CPA, CMA, etc.)
  • Prior professional accounting experience
  • Proficiency with Data Analytics and current accounting technologies
