Job Summary
The Department of Communications in the Gwen Ifill College of Media, Arts, and Humanities at Simmons University invites applications for a full-time contract faculty member to teach in our interdisciplinary undergraduate degree program in Public Relations/Marketing Communications beginning fall 2019. Responsibilities include teaching seven courses over the year (3/4 course load), continued professional engagement, and service to the department, including advising students. Likely courses include Introduction to Public Relations, Public Relations Writing, Advertising I and II, and perhaps Digital Cultures, Public Speaking, or other undergraduate courses that draw on the candidate's areas of expertise.

Successful candidates will have:
  • A commitment to excellence in undergraduate education;
  • A commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student body;
  • A proven teaching record that combines theory and practice;
  • Experience in developing social media campaigns and using analytics;
  • Experience in curriculum development emphasizing integration of communications tools;
  • An understanding of industry best practices and trends.

  • MA/MS in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field required;
  • Ph.D. in a related field preferred;
  • Excellence in teaching;
  • Experience in the fields of Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
