Position: The Raymond J. Harbert College of Business at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama seeks an experienced and established academic leader for the Department Chair of Supply Chain Management. Successful applicants will be expected to assume a strong leadership role in the college and the department, with particular focus on continuing the current positive trajectory in department research outputs and teaching excellence in undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level programs. The successful applicant will also be expected to teach and maintain a quality research portfolio.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily affairs of the department.
  • Manage the department’s fiscal resources.
  • Oversee curriculum development and class scheduling.
  • Lead the department in recruiting, evaluating, and mentoring faculty and staff.
  • Create and support a culture that aims to achieve excellence in research and teaching.
  • Represent the department at external functions and assist in the department and the college’s fundraising efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with the leaders of the other departments (Accounting, Business Analytics and Information Systems, Finance, Management and Entrepreneurship, and Marketing), the Dean, and other administrators as part of the college leadership team.
 
About the Department: The Department of Supply Chain Management is composed of a total of 10 tenure track faculty members, including an Eminent Scholar. The department also has several full-time lecturers, a professor of practice and 2 full-time positions devoted to the professional development of students. Departmental faculty conduct research in several discipline areas and the department currently hosts the Journal of Business Logistics. Faculty of the department regularly publish their work in premier academic journals and also support and work collaboratively with the Center of Supply Chain Innovation which is also housed in the department. The department offers numerous courses to support the undergraduate and graduate degree programs offered through the department.
