The J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics at NUI Galway is a leader in business research and education nationally. The School offers a broad range of innovative programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Accounting, Business Information Systems, Economics, Management and Marketing and has successfully attained AACSB and AMBA accreditation. The School is synergistically aligned with two main research institutes, the Whitaker Institute for Innovation and Societal Change and the Institute of Lifecourse and Society. The School comprises five Disciplines: Accountancy & Finance, Business Information Systems, Economics, Management, and Marketing.
The BIS Discipline is recognised nationally and internationally for excellence in research and teaching through scholarly contribution to academia, industry and contributing to the wider society. The discipline consistently ranks in the top 150 universities in the world in Information Systems, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject (Computer Science and Information Systems). Discipline staff have recently published in journals such as Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, European Journal of Information Systems, and Journal of Information Technology. The discipline incorporates the NUI Galway branch of Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software, a previous winner of the TCSE Distinguished Synergy Award by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Council on Software Engineering (TCSE).
Applications are invited for a 12 months specific purpose appointment (with the possibility of an extension of up to one additional year maximum depending on resources and requirements) as a Lecturer Above the Bar in Business Information Systems (BIS) contract Type A within the J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics. We are seeking talented individuals with expertise in one or more of the key areas of BIS, in particular: Advanced Database Technologies, Statistical Programming, Business Analytics, IS Security, Cloud Computing.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place on the week of July 19th 2021.

Salary: € 66,762 to €86,212 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
(This appointment will be made on the Above the Bar scale in line with current Government pay policy)
