The College of Business and Information Systems at Dakota State University seeks applicants for a 9-month, full-time tenure-track faculty position in business to begin Fall 2022. Rank and salary will be determined based on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
Qualified individuals will contribute to DSU’s graduate and undergraduate business programs through excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, and service as well as a willingness to collaborate in all phases of academic life. Applicants hired may be assigned to teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in business areas including production and operations management, organizational behavior and human resources, business policy and strategy, and leadership. The successful candidate may be assigned additional courses from the business administration curriculum based on their academic credentials. Courses will be taught on-campus in Madison, SD, and taught at a location in Sioux Falls, SD and online as needed. The candidate hired will be expected to provide effective and innovative teaching, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and engage students and faculty from diverse disciplines and actively participate in curriculum development and other programmatic initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D., DBA, DM or equivalent terminal degree in business administration or related business field. Doctoral students near completion of their degree may also be considered.
- Teaching experience
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to mentor student research and doctoral dissertation work.
- Potential to publish original research in the top journals and experience in writing and securing grants.
- Practical business experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teaching and advising in undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Researching and publishing relevant scholarship.
- Networking with scholars and professionals to secure internships and post-graduate opportunities for students.
- Develop a research stream appropriate to DSU’s mission.
Information about the College of Business and Information Systems: The College of Business and Information Systems offers a PhD in Information Systems and Master of Science degrees in information systems, analytics, and health informatics as well as a master in business administration (MBA) in general management. Undergraduate baccalaureate degrees include computer information systems, artificial intelligence in organizations, business administration, health information administration, professional accountancy, and business and computer education. The graduate MBA program, the undergraduate BBA with specializations in accounting, business technology, finance, management, and marketing, the BS in professional accountancy, and the associate degree in business management are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Education programs are accredited by South Dakota Department of Education and The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
