The Faculty of Management and the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, invite applications for a Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Governance (probationary tenure-track, tenure-track or tenured), Tier 2, at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.

We welcome candidates, both national and international, with scholarly expertise in the broad field of Indigenous Governance. Scholars working in this field may be pursuing research in any number of areas, such as: Indigenous self-determination and intergovernmental relations (at the local, national and/or international level); natural resource management, economic development, and Indigenous environmental justice; innovation, entrepreneurship, and Indigenous governance; energy policy, dispute resolution, and Indigenous legal orders; Indigenous feminism, rights and regulatory frameworks; or social, economic, and cultural security and resurgence.

The CRC program was established by the Canadian Federal Government with the purpose of attracting outstanding researchers to the Canadian university system. Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars (i.e. the candidate must have been an active researcher in their field for fewer than 10 years at the time of nomination). Applicants who are more than 10 years from their highest degree (and where career breaks exist, including maternity leave, extended sick leave, etc.) may have their eligibility for a CRC Tier 2 assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process. The Faculties of Management and Law will jointly provide the hub and the support for the CRC program of research in Indigenous Governance and for increased interdisciplinary research collaborations between the Schulich School of Law and the Faculty of Management and with other researchers.

Applicants should have an outstanding academic record, a record of scholarly engagement, and demonstrated (or potential) teaching excellence. At the time of appointment, the successful candidate will have a graduate degree in Law (completed or in progress), or a doctoral degree in Management or a related discipline.
