Assistant Teaching Professor - Finance

The Finance Department at the Robert J. Manning School of Business at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor to start in the Fall of 2020. The position is renewable annually, potentially leading to an appointment of Associate Teaching Professor following five consecutive years of excellent performance evaluations.
The Manning School of Business has over 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students, is accredited by AACSB International, and is building faculty capacity to deepen its research productivity and build program offerings at all degree levels. The Department of Finance offers a Ph.D. and MS degrees in Finance, a Finance concentration in the MBA, a Finance concentration in the BSBA program, and a Graduate Certificate in Financial Management. Located 30 miles northwest of Boston, UMASS Lowell has over 18,000 students and is the second-largest public university in Massachusetts. Within the last three years, the Manning School has moved into a new building with a state of the art trading room. The teaching load for this position is three courses per semester with an additional service component. A portion of the service component includes managing the Trading Room and working with students and faculty in the use of financial databases.
Job duties include:
Teaching assigned finance courses during the academic year
Service to manage the Trading Room
Ensure the operational status of Trading Room features and coordinate use of Bloomberg software with university IT staff.
Resolve any technical issues with Bloomberg support and other data vendors
Organize training sessions on basic Bloomberg functionality and certifications
Ensure lab security, monitoring, and compliance with the University's acceptable use policy
Assist faculty, undergrads, and doctoral students with Bloomberg and other data sources
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Master's degree in finance or MBA with a finance concentration from an AACSB accredited school (must have a degree by the time of appointment)
Ability to work effectively with diverse groups
A record of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate degree levels
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to speak and write English clearly
Doctoral degree in finance from an AACSB accredited school
Ability to teach a wide variety of finance classes
Ability to advise students and supervise honors projects
Experience in managing a Bloomberg terminal-based finance lab.
Experience in Bloomberg certification
