A Level C academic is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the university and to carry out activities to maintain and develop her/his scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.
The role contributes primarily to teaching of management related units at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct competitive industry focused research on Operations Management and Project Management. An academic at this level is expected to have experience of teaching and leading the management related modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The appointee with industry experience and network is greatly appreciated.
The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and/or studio sessions
Initiation and development of subject material
Acting as subject coordinators; the preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars
Supervision of the program of study of honours students or of postgraduate students engaged in course work
Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects
The conduct of research
Involvement in professional activity
Development of course material with appropriate advice from and support of more senior staff
Marking and assessment
Consultation with students
A range of administrative functions the majority of which are connected with the subjects in which the academic teaches
Attendance at departmental, school and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a number of committees
Key Selection Criteria:
A doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline area or equivalent accreditation and standing.
Possess a high level of interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team across both the education and service sectors
Demonstrated statistical analysis and manuscript preparation skills; including developing a solid track record of refereed research publications
Ability to work positively and cooperatively with students, internal and external teams and external organisations
Demonstrated strong record of teaching experience in a tertiary environment
Demonstrated ability to motivate, actively engage and educate a given audience
Demonstrated experience in curriculum and subject material development
Proven ability, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly and research activities
A demonstrated capacity to work in a collegiate manner with other staff in the workplace
