Department Summary
The Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences (ITDS) is comprised of two academic disciplines, Information Systems and Management Science. The ITDS department has 38 research and teaching faculty whose mission is to conduct cutting edge research and prepare the next generation of information systems, management science, and business analytics professionals. Our department offers degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels. Five of our degrees are STEM-designated — BS and MS in IS and BBA, MBA, and MS in Business Analytics. We also offer PhDs in Information Systems, Management Science, and Information Assurance. ITDS has a solid track record of producing well-prepared, motivated, and, ultimately successful business professionals and academicians. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
The Information Technology & Decision Sciences (ITDS) Department in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at the University of North Texas, a Carnegie R1 university, seeks an individual for a tenured / tenure-track faculty position in Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Management Science, and/or Business Analytics (DS/MS/BA/IS) with a proven ability to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate IS/DS/MS/BA courses, make high-quality intellectual contributions in those or closely related fields independently and with faculty colleagues and/or doctoral students, advise and mentor students, and render service to the department, college, university, and profession, all commensurate with their rank. An offer of employment for this position will be made dependent upon available funding.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- A PhD in Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Management Science, and/or Business Analytics (IS/DS/MS/BA) or a closely related field.
- The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate IS/DS/MS/BA courses.
- Conduct high-quality research in those or closely related fields independently and with faculty colleagues and/or doctoral students
- Advise and mentor students
- Procure research and other funding
- Render service to the department, college, university, and profession commensurate with their rank.
Degree must be awarded from an AASCB-accredited or similarly accredited institution. Tenured positions require a proven ability to conduct world-class, discipline-specific, impactful research independently and with others, and publish in top-quality (e.g., FT50, ABDC A*) BA/DS/MS/IS academic journals.
Preferred Qualifications
- A candidate who already holds, or is about to hold, the rank of Associate or Full Professor; although, proven senior Assistant Professors are also acceptable.
- A proven record of research or other discipline-specific intellectual contributions is highly desired; therefore, preference is for a candidate with a proven ability to conduct world-class, impactful research independently and with others, and publish in top-quality (e.g., FT50, ABDC A*) IS/BA/DS/MS academic journals.
- Experience, ability, and/or desire to work on and obtain research grants and contracts, and to work with organizations that hire our students to procure scholarships and internships are also desirable.
- Strong preference for a proven teacher with several years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate DS/MS/BA/IS courses.
- Experience developing courses, curriculum, and/or teaching cases, as well as ability and willingness to assist students with career guidance and helping the department nurture, expand, and improve our relations with organizations that intern and/or hire our graduates are a plus.
- Great teaching and research are key, discipline-specific managerial experience and a track record of significant service contributions are also a plus.
