POSITION: Sales Faculty, Centurion Sales Program – Assistant Professor of Sales and Marketing
Stetson University’s School of Business Administration is seeking a dynamic teacher-scholar to become to be a part of our rapidly growing Centurion Sales Program. The Centurion Program is an integral part of an entrepreneurially minded School of Business dedicated to delivering an innovative and comprehensive business learning experience for our students. The ideal candidate will join a team dedicated to integrating sales education and research into the business education experience of our students. This is an ideal opportunity for a sales educator who values developing distinctive courses and programs to leverage interdisciplinary collaborations and experiential learning for our students and to professional and corporate partners through continuing education training and workshops.
We are seeking applicants and nominations for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The individual will join other dedicated educators at Stetson’s DeLand, Florida, campus. Teaching responsibilities may include teaching at other campuses within the Stetson system, as well as teaching courses online or in a hybrid format.
The University seeks candidates who have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with multiple constituencies of diverse backgrounds.
Evidence of academic preparation and scholarship activity sufficient to be qualified as Scholarly Academic under the AACSB guidelines is preferred. Prior professional experience in sales, sales management, executive sales leadership, and marketing are preferred.
A PhD or other research doctorate in Marketing or a related field with an emphasis in Sales from an AACSB accredited institution is required. Candidates with earned degrees will be given preference, but ABDs who will complete the degree by August 1, 2020 will be considered.
Experienced Assistant Professor candidates are expected to have demonstrated excellent teaching performance and have an established record of scholarship that includes publications in the sales field. Entry-level Assistant Professor candidates are expected to demonstrate the potential for effective teaching in sales courses. These candidates should also demonstrate scholarly activity that leads to publication in peer-reviewed marketing and sales journals. All candidates must demonstrate and maintain scholarly activity sufficient to receive Scholarly Academic status consistent with AACSB and established School of Business guidelines by having an active research stream with a record of publishing in academic journals in the field of marketing and sales. All candidates must also be able to contribute to teaching general marketing courses. Experiential-based teaching is highly valued, and class sizes are typically less than 30 students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Understanding of the concepts and philosophies of professional selling, sales management, and executive sales strategies and practices across industries.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with the local and regional business community in an effort to expand the Centurion Sales Program through corporate partnerships.
Stetson University tenure-track faculty typically teach three (3) one-unit courses each semester. Teaching responsibilities will depend on the candidate’s disciplinary expertise and may include offerings for the University’s requirements in General Education. Additional responsibilities include: undergraduate advising; student recruitment; engaging with university, school, and departmental committees and meetings; and building partnerships with both Florida-based and national practitioners and potential employers. Potential exists for teaching at the graduate level. Engagement in multidisciplinary collaborations with other faculty is anticipated.

The Centurion Sales Program (https://www.stetson.edu/business/sales/) is uniquely structured to bridge the gap between academia and practical application. The program offers multiple opportunities for professional development, including the sales process, sales culture, practical application, and sales coaching.
The Department of Marketing (https://www.stetson.edu/business/marketing/) has a strategic and analytics focus, with research and data analysis being prominent in all majors. A wide range of Marketing, Professional Sales, and Sport Business courses are offered, including courses in sponsorships, marketing research, analytics, digital media, social marketing, supply chains, and sales management.
