Aalto University School of business is looking to hire a junior academic interested in research in the domain of sustainable business. The position is within the Organizations and Management unit in the Department of Management Studies of Aalto University School of Business (
http://management.aalto.fi). The department hosts a strong sustainable business and corporate responsibility research group (
https://www.aalto.fi/en/department-of-management-studies/sustainability-in-business-sub) specialized in innovations and business models towards sustainability, co-creation of sustainability innovations, circular economy, sustainability transitions, and sustainable entrepreneurship. In addition to active publishing, the group is active in collaboration with companies and other societal stakeholders, and creating societal impact. The department also has a very competitive group of strategy, organization theory, human resource management and international business researchers. Moreover, the department has a lively, international research community with numerous doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers from several countries.
Your role
The postdoctoral position is associated with a large-scale research project focusing on sustainability transition in the forest sector. Hence, candidates with research interests on the role of business in systemic sustainability transitions, and/or organizing for resilience and regeneration from the perspective management and organization theories are especially suited for the position. Experience of qualitative research methods are an asset.
We expect the candidate to conduct high quality research and aim to publish in leading international journals. The position is associated with a low teaching load: participating in teaching a course and advising master’s theses. In addition, the position includes minor project management tasks relating to the project it is associated with.
We look for scholars who are completing or have completed their Ph.D. within the last four years. Applicants with academic backgrounds combining business and sustainability studies, or social science at large with focus on sustainability studies will be particularly suitable although scholars with other backgrounds are eligible to apply. The applicants should have demonstrated the ability publish internationally. The position requires fluent skills in the English language. Finnish language skills are considered an asset.
Post-doctoral researchers are required to be in residence for the duration of the appointment. The dates of the employment relationship can be negotiated, starting at earliest in January 2024 and at latest in March 2024.

The postdoctoral scholar will be a member in a group of highly motivated and productive scholars, in one of the leading management departments in Europe. Salary is approximately 52.000 euros per annum. Aalto University also provides health care and retirement benefits.
