Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for the position of chair of the Hospitality Management Department beginning July 1, 2020. Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in hospitality management, tourism, or closely related field as well as the research record, teaching record, and leadership experience needed to be hired as a Chair with tenure at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Applicants with the potential for dual appointment in another Paul College business department are especially encouraged to apply.

Desirable candidates will have a track record of publishing research on Hospitality Management or related topics in top-tier academic journals along with hospitality or related industry experience. Candidates will demonstrate proven leadership skills, written and oral communication skills, and experience with (or interest in) managing a separate Hospitality BS degree program within an AACSB accredited business school. In addition to the general faculty expectation to contribute to the College through scholarship, teaching and service, the next Chair of the Hospitality Management Department will be expected to continue to build enrollments, strengthen ties with industry, mentor faculty, and nurture an already strong alumni network that includes an actively engaged advisory board. Candidates should demonstrate skill in working with culturally diverse constituencies in the academic environment and an ability to cultivate external relations with community leaders, institutions, and stakeholders. It is anticipated that the initial appointment as department Chair will be for five years. Salary will be competitive with other public universities.

The Department is located in a state-of-the-art facility that opened in January 2013, equipped with a teaching kitchen and dedicated hospitality management classrooms. Our students participate in internships around the country with leading hotel, gaming, and hospitality asset management companies. Over the past two years we have launched a new curriculum for our BS program as well as a MBA specialization and graduate certificate, both focused on hotel management and analytics.

UNH is located in the rural New England town of Durham on a 1,100-acre campus, 60 miles north of Boston, 11 miles from the growing artistic and historic town of Portsmouth and the Atlantic coast, and is convenient to New Hampshire’s lakes and mountains. The University enrolls more than 15,000 students with a full-time faculty of over 600 and offers more than 100 undergraduate and 100 graduate programs. The Paul College enrolls approximately 3,000 students.
