Linfield College, a comprehensive college that combines a strong emphasis on the liberal arts with a commitment to professional and interdisciplinary programs, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position in business (Sport Management) beginning fall, 2019. The position supports the newly launched Sport Management major and an existing Sport Management minor. Both the major and minor are interdisciplinary, with collaborating faculty and courses across multiple departments of the college. Duties include teaching courses on Linfield’s McMinnville campus, particularly foundations of sport management and sport marketing, along with other entry-level and upper-level sport management courses as determined by the department chair; building a record of scholarly professional achievement beyond teaching and service commitments; and fulfilling service responsibilities, including department and college service and student advising.
Qualifications include 1) doctorate in Sport Management or a closely related field; 2) evidence of excellence in teaching (undergraduate teaching experience highly desirable); 3) demonstrated potential for success in scholarly professional achievement and department/college service; 4) ability to work effectively with colleagues and students in a small college setting; and 5) demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion. Desirable qualifications include experience mentoring undergraduate students, including first generation students, and evidence of relevant sport industry experience.
