Position Overview

The School of Business at the University of Kansas is searching for a Professor in Supply Chain Management for the 2019-2020 academic year. The search is open at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. Appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant’s scholarly and teaching record. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning August 18, 2019.

All areas of supply chain management and operations management will be considered. Applicants with interest in teaching executive MBA courses and/or corporate exposure are encouraged to apply.

Job Description

40% – Teach effectively supply chain management/operations management courses at the undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. level.

40% – Publish research in a quantity and quality commensurate with the University of Kansas’s status as a Carnegie I research university.

20% – Perform service for the School, University, and the academic profession. Interact effectively with students, faculty, and the business community.

Required Qualifications

PhD or D.B.A in supply chain management, operations management, industrial engineering, or a closely related discipline (or anticipate completion of doctorate by August 2019).
Demonstrated evidence or potential to publish in top tier journals.
A clear ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate, masters, or Ph.D. levels in the areas of supply chain management and operations management.

Evaluation of these requirements will be made through (1) letter of application describing experience and accomplishments; (2) record of productivity in teaching, research and service as noted in CV; (3) research statement and supplemental materials (e.g., publications); (4) teaching statement and supplemental materials (teaching portfolio, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations); (5) information provided by three professional references.

For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor:
A Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree in supply chain management, operations management, or a closely related field (must be earned by August 18, 2019.)
Demonstrated record of teaching in supply chain management and/or in operations management.
Demonstrated excellent scholarship (or potential for excellent scholarship) as shown through publications and working papers. For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor:
A Ph.D. in supply chain management, operations management, or a closely related field.
Record of productive teaching excellence in supply chain management and/or in operations management.
Demonstrated excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to an Associate Professor at research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.
For appointment at the rank of Full Professor:
A Ph.D. in supply chain management, operations management, or a closely related field.
Established record of teaching excellence in supply chain management and/or operations management.
Sustained record of excellent scholarship as shown through publications that have enabled the candidate to be successfully promoted to a Full Professor at research-oriented university of a similar or higher research profile as the University of Kansas.
