Position Summary

The Executive in Residence in Finance is primarily responsible for recruiting and developing a talented pool of undergraduate (honors) students to prepare them for Wall Street placements. This individual will lead the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion mentoring and placement programs and develop coaching programs for international and domestic students. The Executive in Residence will also coordinate semi-annual meetings for our student fund board of advisors, provide board stewardship, manage our Bloomberg lab, and coordinate student trips to to meet affluent alumni in financial services. The Executive in Residence is additionally expected to create and lead programs and activities that will enhance our school’s reputation and student success.

    • Recruit and administer the student-run endowment academic experiential learning program (the Terese Kelly Investment Group or TKIG)
    • Coordinate semi-annual TKIG Board of Advisors meeting for student stock pitches
    • Recruit and identify freshman and sophomore undergraduate honors college students with potential to be recruited for Wall Street placements
    • Teach undergraduate freshman and sophomores relevant financial skills to compete for early admission Wall Street recruiting programs
    • Continue the Diversity Equity and Inclusion mentoring and placement program in the School of Management, resulting in a significant number of DEI students being placed in Wall Street front office roles
    • Develop coaching programs for female international students to result in outstanding job placements
    • Provide board stewardship resulting in board members giving
    • Manage and administer the Bloomberg Terminal Lab, Contracts, and Funding
    • Coordinate semi-annual student trips (to NYC primarily) to meet affluent alumni in financial services
    • Work with University Advancement Principal Gifts team to provide stewardship and student access to affluent University Alumni
    • Serve as a spokesperson for the Finance programs in partnership with the Undergraduate Program Office, Graduate Program Office, and Career Resource Center
    • Develop students to be professional representatives of the University at Buffalo School of Management at alumni events
    • Maintain involvement in the Finance Academy projects
    • Possibly coordinate an advisory body for the Department of Finance consisting of executives in the financial services industry
    • Assist with launching any new program initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or related field with a minimum of three years of significant administrative experience.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and administer complex programs and initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the financial services industry and current market trends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in finance, economics, or business, preferred.
  • Experience in finance or investment banking, preferred.
  • Experience connecting with alumni in higher education.
  • Experience working with a student fund.
  • A good understanding of the business environment in Buffalo as well as outside Buffalo.
  • Existing relationships with investment professionals.
  • Ability to travel with the students or for the benefit of the group.
