Department of Marketing
The Department of Marketing comprises of a thriving and dynamic community of faculty, researchers and staff, extending into four primary research domains: Strategic Marketing, Services Marketing, Retail and Sales and Consumer Behavior. With these key marketing disciplines forming the backbone of our study programmes, the Department offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees that are internationally competitive in quality, innovativeness and timeliness. Activities of the department are located in the Otaniemi campus of Aalto University in Espoo (Helsinki metropolitan area).

What we expect
The applicant is expected to have a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and to have a fluent command of English. The applicant is expected to exercise and guide world-class scientific research, to provide related higher academic education, to follow the advances of one’s field, to participate in service to the Aalto University community, and to exhibit academic leadership. Experience in acquiring funding for research projects and co-operation with industry and research institutions will be considered as an advantage. Associate professors are expected to have robust evidence for acquiring external financing and full professors are expected to have established a strong track record in it. The evaluation of the applicants is based on Aalto Tenure Track recruitment criteria (https://www.aalto.fi/tenure-track/interested-in-joining-our-tenure-track), and will be supported by bibliometric analyses using e.g. ISI Web of Science. The position is research intensive and annual teaching loads are very reasonable compared to international business schools.
The department particularly welcomes an evidence-backed commitment to innovative and collaborative scholarship without regard to subject area or method. It is expected that your research, teaching and methodological expertise will strengthen the department either by supplementing our existing competences or by bringing new skills and knowledge to the department.

Thus, Aalto Research and Innovation Services is also dedicated to serve Aalto faculty during the entire lifecycle of various research projects. Tenured professors can for example receive a research funding support for first 3 years.
Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities. The salary is determined based on applicant’s experience and qualifications within the Aalto salary framework. Consistent with EU insurance and pension regulations, Aalto expects full time academic employees to reside and work in Finland. The School of Business will provide relocation support for tenured professors coming from outside Finland.
Employees may pursue supplementary teaching and consulting activities within limits and subject to approval from the university HR department. Aalto University provides its employees with occupational health care services and retirement benefits.
