    Jacksonville State University (JSU) seeks a dynamic and solutions-oriented leader to serve as the next Dean of the School of Business and Industry (SBI).

    [b]About Jacksonville State:[/b] Located in the Appalachian foothills almost midway between Birmingham and Atlanta, JSU has grown from very humble beginnings as a state teachers college in 1883 into the Alabama regional university with the highest percentage of accredited programs and an enrollment approaching 8,500 students. JSU's mission is to foster a vibrant living and learning-centered community that cultivates personal development, celebrates diversity, promotes leadership, and enhances the educational experience of each resident. JSU offers 95 academic programs and concentrations, including bachelor's, master's, post-baccalaureate, doctoral, and advanced certificate programs with over 40 programs available online.

    [b]About the School of Business and Industry:[/b] The AACSB-accredited School of Business and Industry aspires to be one of the premier public regional undergraduate schools of business in the Southeast. The faculty, staff, and administration of the School are committed to continuously improving the quality of its academic programs, student support activities, and service to the local and regional community. The mission of the SBI is to educate a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body for successful employment and managerial careers in a dynamic global environment, to be productive and ethical citizens, and to be prepared for advanced studies, as well as lifelong learning. The School is composed of four departments: Applied Engineering; Communication; Finance, Economics, and Accounting; and Management and Marketing, and offers a variety of undergraduate degrees as well as a Master's in Business Administration.

    [b]The Position of Dean of the School of Business and Industry:[/b] The Dean is the chief administrator of the School, responsible for providing academic leadership and fostering excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and community engagement/service. The Dean will have responsibility for academic planning, including continuous evaluation of current academic programs, and developing short- and long-term goals for academic growth. The Dean will be responsible for administrative functions, including, but not limited to, staffing, budgets, and facility management. The Dean positively represents the School and the University to all constituents and is active in advancement activities.

    The next Dean will:

    [*] Provide strategic leadership in establishing and achieving the School's vision, mission, goals, and expected program outcomes.

    [*] Articulate a vision and strategic plan for evaluating the academic programs and curricula and identifying new programs in collaboration with program committees, faculty, staff, and students.

    [*] Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies (e.g., AACSB, SACSCOC, etc.)

    [*] Maintain effective communication with faculty, staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders.

    [*] Have the ability to inspire confidence and motivate others for engagement and innovation.

    [*] Address conflict constructively and fairly.

    [*] Support the University's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

    [*] Remain loyal to the School and its purposes.

    [*] Be visible on campus and in the community.

    [*] Represent the School and University positively in interactions with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels.

    [*] Build and sustain effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external constituents.

    [*] Interact with alumni and community partners to raise funds and enhance the reputation of the School and University.

    [*] Encourage and facilitate supportive interdisciplinary relationships between the School and its related professions.

    [b]Qualifications:[/b] The next Dean must have a terminal degree in a discipline within the School or in a related field, and a significant record of administrative accomplishment. Candidates should demonstrate a record of teaching and scholarship appropriate for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor or hold a comparable record of professional achievement in their field.
