    Lecturer in Information Systems

    The School of Business Administration at Penn State Harrisburg is seeking qualified applicants for a one-year, non-tenure-line lecturer in Information Systems with a focus on Human Centered Design to begin as early as August 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to innovative teaching, research, and student success. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who shares our commitment to teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will also contribute to our efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for students and engage in scholarly and service activities supporting institutional goals. This is a term position.

    Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities include:

    Teaching: Specific job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in information systems and human-centered design. These courses are mostly taught in-person and synchronously. The successful candidate will also teach in the following areas: human and user-centered design processes, user research methods, design thinking, and UX analytics. Secondary teaching areas could include the following: application development, programming skills (Java & Python), and database technology.

    Research/Scholarship: Faculty are expected to engage in professional activity through scholarship and service.

    Service: All faculty are expected to undertake committee work, advising, community engagement, and mentorship, and make other contributions to the campus, to DEIB goals and initiatives, and to the broader academic community.

    Qualifications: Preferred candidates will hold a doctorate or DBA in information systems, human-centered design, human-computer interaction, information science, or closely related field by the employment start date. Candidates with a master's degree in any of these areas are strongly encouraged to apply.

    DEIB Requirement: Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to transforming teaching methods, communication approaches, course materials, learning objectives, and learning environments to genuinely support, respect, and cater to the diverse needs of student populations at Penn State Harrisburg.
