With the introduction of the new University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement 2023-26, the University has committed to establishing and advertising new continuing education-focused academic positions. The positions are for talented educators with a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, teaching, curriculum design, educational practice and innovation, as well as research capability (in disciplinary and/or education-related research). This newly recruited group of educators are recognised both internationally and within the university for their expertise in educational delivery and will support an uplift in the teaching capability and student experience at the University of Sydney.

The Associate Professor/Professor of Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Education Focused) dedicates the majority of their contribution to teaching and teaching-related activities (up to 70%), with a minimum of 20% research and 10% governance, service, and engagement. Additionally, you will mentor junior academics, providing advice on teaching methodologies, education research approaches, publications, and career advancement.
The role will drive pedagogical advancements, requiring commitment to research and scholarship in educational methodologies, technology, and pedagogical approaches within Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship to deliver high quality educational experiences and outcomes. It is geared towards scholars deeply engaged with teaching and learning committed to playing a pivotal role in education leadership. The successful incumbent will participate in communities of practice with other education focused roles in the Discipline, School, and University.
The key responsibilities of the role will be to:
develop, teach and coordinate units of study (courses) within Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship to culturally diverse cohorts of undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA students
develop a strong profile with external stakeholders, particularly in relation to pedagogical activities in the areas of Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SIE)
engage in research aimed at publication in high-quality peer-reviewed pedagogical or discipline-specific academic journals
collaborate with SIE’s Genesis accelerator and SIE-related multidisciplinary activities with partners across the University such as the Sydney Knowledge Hub and Sydney Incubate, as well as external stakeholders
contribute to the educational and administrative duties of the Discipline and School.
About you
We are looking for an outstanding Associate Professor or Professor level educator in Strategy, Innovation or Entrepreneurship. Applicants should possess the following, and include a response to each of the Selection Criteria in their cover letter as part of their application:
A completed PhD or higher degree in Strategy, Innovation or Entrepreneurship or a related area
Proven international standing for academic excellence demonstrated through original, innovative and distinguished contributions to scholarship and research
Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering high-quality teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate or MBA level, including unit of study coordination, delivery of lectures, and assessment of student learning activities
Capacity to work in a contemporary university context, including innovation in teaching and delivering content in face-to-face and online environments with a notable track record for enhancing student outcomes and pioneering educational innovations
The ability to work successfully in a team and commit to a collegial approach
An established network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders, with the ability to integrate these relationships to assist in curriculum development and student learning
Demonstrated community service with significant contribution to governance and collegial life within the university, including undertaking significant administrative and/or committee positions.

Examples of effective teamwork in which you have been involved, including your contribution to the team
Your experience of teaching large and diverse groups of students at either undergraduate or postgraduate level, with a particular focus on your use of learning technologies.
Term and remuneration
Full-time continuing position.
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
