Position: Assistant Professor of Finance (Tenure Track)
Stetson University's School of Business Administration, an entrepreneurially minded School with a balanced emphasis on teaching and research and dedicated to delivering an innovative and comprehensive business curriculum to our students, seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment in the Finance Department at the rank of Assistant Professor (9 month appointment) in DeLand, FL. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated collegiality, and the ability to work with multiple constituencies of diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D., D.B.A. or other terminal degree in finance from an AACSB accredited institution is required by August 2026. Possession of a CFA or a CFP or other relevant professional license and relevant professional experience in Finance is strongly preferred. Entry-level Assistant Professor applicants are expected to demonstrate potential for effective teaching, preferably with some teaching experience, and scholarly activity that will lead to publication in peer-reviewed journals. Experienced Assistant Professor applicants are expected to have demonstrated excellence in teaching and have an active research stream with a record of publishing in peer-reviewed, academic journals. Evidence of professional activity sufficient to be qualified as “Scholarly Academic,” as defined by AACSB and Stetson’s faculty qualification standards, is required.
Responsibilities :
The annual teaching load includes five regular courses and one approved contribution (equivalent to one course) to Hatter Ready, the University’s experiential, contemporary, and integrative learning initiative. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate or graduate courses in corporate finance, investments, financial planning, international finance, financial markets and institutions, insurance, derivatives, banking, or real estate, and will depend on the candidate’s disciplinary expertise; all areas will be considered. Interested faculty may offer theme-based courses that meet the University’s requirements in General Education (e.g., First-Year or Junior Seminars) or international courses through Stetson’s WORLD program and the Rinker Center for International Learning.
Additional responsibilities include: undergraduate advising; assistance with student recruitment; service to the university, college, and/or department; and professional engagement. All candidates should demonstrate a passion for the highest quality of teaching and maintain appropriate academic qualifications consistent with AACSB and School of Business Administration standards. The Department :
The Department of Finance (https://www.stetson.edu/other/academics/undergraduate/finance.php ) is dedicated to mentoring students interested in earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in either Finance or Economics. The department offers a finance major with concentrations in corporate finance, investments, and financial planning, along with a business economics major. The department emphasizes real-world, experiential education through specialized programs.

The Community :
DeLand is a picturesque, residential community of 38,000 located 20 miles west of Daytona Beach, 35 miles northeast of Orlando, and just over an hour from Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. The area offers extensive cultural as well as recreational activities.
