    Job Description


    The Sport Management Program in the Department of Human Movement Sciences (HMS) at Old Dominion University is pleased to announce a full-time lecturer position beginning in the fall semester of 2024. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and a willingness to work in a multicultural setting.

    Duties include teaching courses in the undergraduate Sport Management Program and serving on departmental, college, and university committees. Examples of courses that the candidate may teach include, but are not limited to, the following: Sport Media & Public Relations, Sport Facility Management, Event Management & Sport Sponsorship, Sport Sales, Fiscal Planning, and Management in Sport.


    Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities


    Candidates must demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching or potential for outstanding teaching at the collegiate/university level, and candidates must be able to serve on department, college, and university committees.

     


    Minimum Qualifications - Education or training


    Candidates are required to have a master’s degree or higher in Sport Management or a closely related field.

     


    Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification


    Preferred Qualifications



    • An earned doctorate in Sport Management or a closely related field.

    • Experience as a practitioner in the sport industry.

    • Ability to work in a diverse and multicultural community.
