The department of Technology Management invites applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor beginning as early as Spring 2020 or Fall 2020. This position primarily teaches undergraduate and graduate technology management courses, creates instructional materials, directs course projects, and holds regular office hours. May also coordinate degree and program related matters as needed, and supervise extra-curricular activities as assigned. Alternative platforms such as online or hybrid are used in teaching. Design, preparation, and teaching of courses using engaging methods, including demonstrations, discussion, experiential learning activities, and visual aids is expected, as is the use of measurable course objectives and evaluation of learning through participation, written assignments, and examinations. This department maintains a student-oriented approach to education.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Doctoral degree or ABD, at time of hire in a technology management related field (such as engineering management, project management, operations management, etc.) required.
Three years management related experience.
Must have experience assessing student learning capabilities and learning styles and understand how to develop curriculum of assigned courses.
Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university.
Evidence of use or potential for use of digital learning tools and mechanisms in online and hybrid instruction modalities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of subject matter and curriculum development, including online teaching in the areas of: project management, engineering management, and/or technology management.
Knowledge of teaching through implementation of appropriate pedagogy, clear presentation, and preparation.
Knowledge and skills in current theories, strategies, and techniques in technology or engineering management.
Ability to implement instructional strategies and techniques to effectively teach course content.
Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
Knowledge of development and assessment of curriculum.
Ability to supervise undergraduate or industrial research projects.
Ability to work with the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly growing and dynamic institution.
Ability to work in a congenial and productive manner with a diverse mix of other individuals, programs, departments, and industry professionals.
Ability to apply effectively general principles to specific conditions.
Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to function effectively on a variety of committees and assignments that serve the needs of the University.
Skills in maintaining professional and ethical academic standards.
Skills in interpersonal interactions, problem solving, and decision-making.
Minimum two years teaching, instructing, or advising experience.
Talking continuously, sitting and standing regularly, fine hand manipulation for use in computer systems.
