Faculty, Tenure Track, Assistant or Associate Professor - Women's Leadership


Position Category: Faculty - Tenure Track (FT)

Summary:

Teaches undergraduate courses in leadership and management, particularly leadership theory and application and women's leadership, with the ability to teach other department courses (e.g., individual action and corporate responsibility, introduction to business) in a variety of delivery modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybird). Prepares instructional materials (e.g., syllabi, teaching materials, exams). Maintains student-centered approach to learning. Provides service, including community outreach to facilitate student learning and community engagement, as well as committee work at all levels (department, college, and university). Excellence in teaching, research (with emphasis on women's leadership), and academic and professional service will be expected. The person in this position will coordinate with stakeholders across campus on women's leadership initiatives such as brown bag research sessions, a research fellow program, or a speaker series. The role also involves coordinating with government and educational leaders and other stakeholders in the state on women's leadership issues and opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a PhD in leadership, business administration, or a closely related field required. ABD will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of and demonstrated competence in leadership theory and application with an emphasis on women in leadership. An established publication record in the area of womens leadership or the ability to establish a research agenda in womens leadership.

Demonstrated skills and experience in developing and coordinating undergraduate student programs and activities. Skilled or willingness to develop skill in providing high-quality engaged learning in courses. Evidence of well-developed, collegial, and collaborative communication skills.

Ability to generate, integrate, and facilitate campus, community, and state-wide connections focused on womens leadership. Ability and willingness to provide expert classroom instruction, curriculum development, and program assessment. Demonstrated ability to teach across a spectrum of organizational leadership courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Evidence of well-developed, collegial, and collaborative communications and commitment to service and the pursuit of a research agenda are required.
-Successful candidates should have teaching experience in organizational leadership, and specifically womens leadership content areas.
-Preference will be given to applicants with a well-developed background (or strong aspirations to develop a teaching record) in engaged learning. Experience in online/hybrid teaching is also beneficial.
-Pragmatic teaching applications and approaches ideally informed and enhanced by industry experience.
-An interest in and commitment to interacting effectively with the local business, government, and higher education communities in the region and state.
- An interest in and commitment to helping build womens leadership initiatives on campus and in the community.
-Strong evidence of high quality research capabilities in leadership and womens leadership, particularly research with industry, community, and student success impacts.
-Awareness of and sensitivity to educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, and other comparable experience.

The WSB, averaging over 4,000 students per semester, is Utahs largest school of business and Utah Valley University is the largest university with over 40,000 students enrolled.
