Expertise: Dr Bastians primary area of expertise is in how firms manage technology to gain competitive advantage. She is interested in technological change and factors that affect strategic decisions to enter new technology and business fields. For example, she has studied how external threats and political and institutional challenges affect technology strategies of international oil and gas companies. She is also studying how factors related to governance and political uncertainties affect networking behavior of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial performance.
