Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship (Tenure track)
We are now looking for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to strengthen our entrepreneurship faculty team in the Department of Management Studies at Aalto University’s School of Business. In this role you will have a chance to make an impact by designing and leading high-quality research projects, by empowering students to explore their entrepreneurial potential, as well as fostering a thriving entrepreneurship research and education community at the university. Your role and goals
The ideal candidate will demonstrate significant potential or proven ability to publish in top entrepreneurship journals (e.g. JBV, ETP, SEJ, SBE, ERD) and/or to publish entrepreneurship-related research in other established outlets (FT50 or Academic Journal Guide 3-4* ranked journals) within the broader field of management studies.
More broadly, the successful applicant should also demonstrate the ability to:
- conduct individual and collaborative academic research, meeting high international standards
- participate in regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences
- disemminate research findings to the public in general, and to Aalto University’s stakeholders where relevant
- act as regular ad hoc reviewer, potentially serving as review board member of top-tier journals
- offer high-quality teaching in entrepreneurship (at BSc, MSc and PhD level)
- design and develop educational offerings at a course, module or program level
- supervise undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate thesis work
- participate in administrative tasks and strategic decision-making in the Entrepreneurship Unit and the Department of Management Studies
- attract (inter-)national funding for research projects
- promote Aalto University’s academic reputation
Applicants should hold a doctorate degree
or have their doctoral thesis under review, which can be from any of a number of disciplines, provided that the candidate’s research expertise and focus lies clearly in entrepreneurship. High proficiency in written and spoken English is a requirement for this position. Employment duties need to be performed in Finland.
What we offer
At the assistant level, the tenure track covers two terms. The first term is for three years, with renewal for a second four-year term being based on successful mid-term evaluation. Subsequent promotion to Associate Professor is based on a successful tenure review conducted towards the end of the second term. The position offers a manageable teaching load and initial research funding (€10,000/year for the first three years of the position), along with mentoring and training opportunities to assist the applicant in meeting the criteria for a successful mid-term evaluation and future promotion to the Associate Professor level.

. The position comes with an internationally competitive salary, that is determined based on the experience and qualifications of the chosen candidate according to the salary system of Aalto University. In addition, Aalto University provides its employees
