Job Description

The School of Public Service in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University invites applicants for an assistant professor position in multi-sectoral public service. The position begins July 2026. This position is part of an interdisciplinary cluster on community health and resilience. The faculty member will be expected to apply their multi-sectoral public service to research in the health and/or resilience context. The assistant professor will partner with cluster faculty and others to apply a whole-of-community and whole-of-government framework to the study of coastal resilience.

The School of Public Service houses a NASPAA-accredited MPA program, a doctoral program in public administration and policy, a graduate certificate in public administration and policy, a graduate certificate in public procurement and contract management, and a minor in public service.
We welcome applicants with expertise in multi-sectoral public service, broadly defined to include management and policy issues at the intersection and interaction of the public, government, nonprofit, and/or business sectors. Areas of focus may include collaboration, procurement, contract administration and negotiation, citizen engagement, social entrepreneurship, public-private partnerships, and public-nonprofit partnerships, among others. We seek applicants who will contribute directly to the mission of the School, and who will help boost the visibility of the School, both regionally and nationally.
