The School of Public Service in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University invites applicants for an associate or full professor position in planning for healthy and resilient communities. The position begins July 25, 2026. This position is part of an interdisciplinary cluster on community health and resilience. The faculty member is expected to partner with cluster faculty and others in their work. The School of Public Service houses a NASPAA-accredited MPA program, a doctoral program in public administration and policy, a graduate certificate in public administration and policy, a graduate certificate in public procurement and contract management, and a minor in public service.
 
We welcome applicants with expertise in topics related to planning for healthy and resilient communities. The applicant must have a clearly defined and well-established research agenda in planning as it relates to community resilience. Applicants at the Full Professor rank should have a well-established national reputation. The candidate will contribute to the School’s research and educational programs, will have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring doctoral students, and perform research and teaching that make a contribution to the School’s academic programs.
 
The School of Public Service is committed to multi-sector partnerships, broadly defined to include management and policy issues at the intersection and interaction of the public, government, nonprofit, and/or business sectors. The candidate should have an interest in some aspect of multisector partnerships and/or multisector public service, such as privatization, collaboration, contracting, citizen engagement, and social entrepreneurship. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of community engagement.
