Responsibilities

Applying advanced student services concepts, provides the most complex student services to the organization's management, faculty and students.
  • Serve as the principal contact for up to 170 Evening/Weekend MBA Flex Cohort students. Respond to inquiries from Flex Cohort students, faculty, MBA program staff, and other campus offices regarding program requirements and requests for assistance. Communicate regularly with students and faculty regarding program updates, events, scheduling, and other matters of importance.
  • Develop strategic initiatives and ideas to enhance the Flex Cohort student experience, both inside and outside of the classroom. These initiatives should include the development of technological solutions designed to improve the student experience.
  • Oversee the planning and development of all aspects of Flex Cohort signature student experience events, including Flex Cohort orientation, Leadership Communications immersive weekend, and second year Flex Cohort launch. Responsibilities include working with faculty and staff to develop themes, programs, and content; leading all planning and execution on co-curricular activities and logistics (hotel, catering, outside vendors); lead and coordinate staff, student volunteers, and alumni to support the execution of these events unique to Flex Cohort students
  • Coordinate with the Director of Student Experience on the development, planning, and execution of the Mid Program Academic Retreat and third year leadership retreat, including faculty engagement and planning; plan and manage logistics (hotel, catering, outside vendors); lead and coordinate staff, student volunteers, and alumni to support the execution of the academics and student experience
  • Create and implement new and exciting extracurricular activities to enhance the Flex Cohort student experience. Key aspect of this will be to develop ways to have the student populations from the different EWMBA cohorts to interact together.
  • Plan and coordinate workshops, field trips, and guest speakers that support the curricular goals of the Flex Cohort program.
  • Serve as advisor and mentor to Flex Cohort student leadership officers. Actively engage with students and participate in student activities.
  • Maintain relations with the University's Graduate Division and all other central campus units that provide student services, in addition to the Evening and Week-end MBA program staff and faculty.
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of University and School policies.
  • Department/School/College Policies: Advises Assistant Dean and dean's office on the formulation of Evening & Weekend MBA Flex Cohort program policy by advising them on areas needing clarification and identifying solutions; analyzes the consequences of organization's academic policies and recommends new or changed policies; recommends solutions to organization's problems without precedent.


Academic Advising: Identifies and refers for resolution intricate student issues / grievances such as alleged discrimination, complex grade dispute issues, and students' personal crises; recommends petition exceptions that affect the requirements of multiple departments; facilitates new course approval through interaction with the Coordination of College Policy, Academic Senate, or similar organization. Advises faculty on departmental/school/college and university policies and procedures; reviews students' progress and advises students and faculty on requirements for degree/program completion; identifies students with progression problems and recommends interventions; devises curriculum planning in collaboration with chair/dean and faculty, and with other departments. Academic Planning and Support within the EWMBA Program, including:
  • Management of Flex Cohort student enrollment through the Online Registrar system, including bidding and waitlist process.
  • Participates in planning Flex Cohort academic curriculum in collaboration with Executive Director to ensure students' progress through course sequences, avoid conflicts, and ensure compliance with campus-wide policies
  • Determines Flex Cohort course scheduling needs for student progression to graduation. Monitors class and student interest as well as enrollments to most efficiently use resources.
  • Supports Flex Cohort faculty in all aspects of curriculum delivery. Work with faculty to order/coordinate delivery of books and course packets/readers for classes.
  • Respond to inquiries from faculty and GSIs regarding course information, updates, scheduling, evaluations and other matters of importance
  • Serves as advisor and mentor to student academic committees.
  • Serves as point person for all Flex Cohort relations with Office of Registrar, Billing & Payment Services, Summer Sessions, and Graduate Division.
  • Course Scheduling: Devises Flex Cohort course schedules in collaboration with chair/dean and faculty, and with other departments, to ensure students' progress through course sequences, avoiding conflicts, and ensuring compliance with campus-wide policies.


Supervise staff
  • Currently does not have any staff. As cohort grows, will be responsible for hiring & training staff to support the cohort.
  • Supervise staff who will take up Academic Advising, Program Management, and Student Experience planning and execution for the Flex Cohorts.
  • Responsible for performance and day-to-day duties of staff.

Required Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem identification and reasoning by demonstrating skills in developing original ideas to solve problems, make improvements to processes and procedures, and use of persuasion and leadership.
  • Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Google Productivity Suite applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of or can quickly learn University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of or can quickly learn University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
  • Experience in higher education student services or admissions and/or relevant corporate experience (e.g., marketing, operations, recruiting)
  • Experience in event planning.
  • Experience working in education at the graduate level and/or experience working with professional, executive clientele.
  • Familiarity with MBA programs/students.
  • Experience supervising, leading or mentoring a team of represented and/or professional staff.


Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience up to $93,900.00
